Family Immigration To Canada
The objective of the Family Class of immigration is to reunite close family members in Canada.
Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident living in Canada who are 18 years and older may apply for sponsorship of spouse, common-law partner, children, parents, and/or grandparents.
The sponsor must prove that he/she
- Is not in the receipt social assistance benefits other than disability;
- Can meet basic needs—such as food, clothing and shelter—for his family, and support the spouse or common-law partner financially.
Foreign nationals sponsored through the Family Class of immigration receive Canadian permanent residence.
This includes the right to study and work anywhere in Canada.
In 3 years of residence they can apply for Canadian citizenship.
